MORE INFO

The multi-national quartet LADAMA (“a joyous, musically deft mélange of sounds from around the Americas”—Boston Globe) joins the ensemble for a concert celebrating the cycle of the seasons. Based in Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and New York City, the four women of LADAMA are each world-touring artists who together create new music combining North and South American traditions.

Led by ethnomusicologist/drummer Shabazz, this is a full band with drums at its center and a repertoire ranging from African to Caribbean to Latin American. Along with instructing students about the ethos and technique of world drumming traditions, the ensemble offers them opportunities to work closely with guest artists.
